7. The promise of the Father
And behold, I am sending forth the promise of My Father upon you; but you are to stay in the city until you are clothed with power from on high.

8. What’s the promise?
Power for witnessing, life of holiness, edification

9. Gift for you
But to each one is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the common good.



10. A promised gift
If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him?

11. What is the Baptism of the Holy Spirit?
If anyone is thirsty, let him come to Me and drink. He who believes in Me, as the Scripture said, ‘From his innermost being will flow rivers of living water.’ ”

But this He spoke of the Spirit, whom those who believed in Him were to receive; for the Spirit was not yet given, because Jesus was not yet glorified.

I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may be with you forever;

Isaiah 28:11–12 Indeed, He will speak to this people Through stammering lips and a foreign tongue, He who said to them, “Here is rest, give rest to the weary,” And, “Here is repose,” but they would not listen.

…this Man, delivered over by the predetermined plan and foreknowledge of God, you nailed to a cross by the hands of godless men and put Him to death. But God raised Him up again, putting an end to the agony of death, since it was impossible for Him to be held in its power.

Acts 2:38 Peter said to them, “Repent, and each of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins; and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.
